Smolleri / Coarse tiles
CLEFT FINISH SURFACE / NATURAL SURFACE SIDES / RANDOM LENGHTH
Porphyry smolleri are used for paving roads - driveways and pedestrian - and external surfaces with steep slopes. In fact, their rough split edge guarantees high friction and, therefore, a good grip against the ground for wheels (and shoes).
The extreme roughness of the walking surface also makes smolleri particularly suitable for external surfaces that are liable to freeze. With such a valuable anti-slip property, porphyry smolleri often meet the needs of:
- steep alleys
- access ramps to garages
- mountain roads
and also at the entrances to traffic roundabouts where they provide a braking function in the event of cars overshooting.
With depths varying from 5cm to 12cm and natural faces and sides that vary in thickness from 3cm to 7cm, the smolleri are laid side by side to each other.
As well as being used for flooring, these tiles also make interesting decorative elements on plinths, pillars and other areas of wall cladding - giving an aesthetic effect of great originality!
